Andrew Frey, Founder & Principal

Andrew is a real estate development professional with more than 15 years of experience.  He is a developer, zoning lawyer, educator, advocate, and winner of the ULI Southeast Florida Young Leader of the Year.

As founder and principal of Tecela, Andrew has completed two projects as sole sponsor and managing member, 761 & 765 NW 1 St and 769 & 771 NW 1 St, and one as fee developer, Family Resource Center.

In addition to Tecela, Andrew is Director of Development at Fortis Design + Build, where he oversees a team of development managers acting as fee developer for projects including Cube, Wynwood Walk, Palisociety, and The Collective.

Prior to Tecela, he developed more than 1,200 market-rate rental apartments at CC Residential, and obtained local government approvals for several million square feet of development at Akerman and Gunster.  He is an occasional adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Architecture, where he won the Faculty Award.

His volunteer activities include serving as a Governor’s appointee to the Governing Board of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority and vice-chair for policy of the Urban Land Institute's Southeast Florida chapter.  He formerly served as founder and executive director of Townhouse Center; founder and executive director of DawnTown, for which he won the Knight Arts Challenge; and chair of the Chapman Partnership Next Gen Committee.
